One of Indianapolis’ best-known brunch restaurants has turned the page.

Milktooth closed April 26 after 12 years in Fletcher Place, ending a run that helped bring national attention to the city’s breakfast and brunch scene. The restaurant, founded by chef Jonathan Brooks, was known for inventive daytime dishes and earned recognition from national food publications during its run.

The space did not stay quiet for long. Brooks planned a quick transition to Arlene’s, a Southern-style meat-and-three concept named for his mother, with an opening planned for April 30 in the same location.

The change gives Indianapolis diners a new reason to revisit a familiar address. Instead of Milktooth’s highly stylized brunch identity, Arlene’s is built around comfort-food plates such as fried chicken, meatloaf, fish and classic sides.

The switch also reflects a broader reality in local dining: even successful restaurants evolve. Milktooth’s closing marks the end of a notable chapter, but the address remains part of the city’s food conversation through Brooks’ next project.
